MABS brings financial education to post-primary students for Global Money Week 2025
The Citizens Information Board (CIB) welcomes the Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) participation in Global Money Week 2025. Global Money Week is an international campaign from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to promote financial awareness among young people and runs 17-22 March.
As part of Global Money Week, MABS money advisors will visit post-primary schools across the country to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed decisions on money and budgeting.
The MABS school visits will include:
- Interactive workshops that discuss the differences between financial needs and wants.
- Tips on budgeting, managing pocket money, and understanding digital banking.
- Discussions on smart borrowing and highlight the risks of high-cost credit and buy-now-pay-later schemes.
Global Money Week takes place annually and is coordinated in Ireland by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. MABS is Ireland’s only free, confidential, and independent service for people in debt or at risk of getting into debt. Funded and supported by CIB, MABS provides:
- One-to-one money advice and budgeting guidance.
- Community and school-based financial education sessions.
- Expert help with managing personal loans, mortgages, and other debts.
