CIB welcomes publication of National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities report

The Citizens Information Board (CIB) welcomes the publication of a new report ‘Shortchanged: Barriers to financial autonomy for People with Disabilities’ by the National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities (NAS).

This important report highlights the challenges people with disability can experience when trying to access financial services. Case studies and testimony from NAS clients provide compelling insights into the issues faced. The report also highlights the key role NAS has in supporting people to overcome these challenges.

‘Shortchanged: Barriers to financial autonomy for People with Disabilities’ was funded by CIB under the Social Policy Grant Scheme which provides support for social policy initiatives being undertaken by independent information providers.

NAS is funded and supported by CIB, which has a mandate under the Citizens Information Act 2007 and the Comhairle Act 2000 to provide advocacy for people with disabilities. NAS provide people with disabilities across Ireland with an independent, professional and free representative advocacy service that helps people to have their voices heard, make decisions and live their lives independently.
