Remote Citizens Information Clinics now open in three locations across Ireland.
Remote Citizens Information Clinics are now open in three library locations across Ireland. The Remote Citizens Information Clinic is an innovative, free service where people can make an appointment to speak to Citizens Information staff on a video call in a dedicated private space in their local library.
This exciting pilot seeks to enhance access to information for people living in areas that do not have a Citizens Information Centre (CIC). When you make your appointment with Citizens Information, you simply go to your local library where you will be shown to a private space to start your video call with a trusted Information Officer. The Information Officer will provide information and advice on questions you may have on a range of topics including social welfare benefits, fuel allowance, State pension or Budget 2025.
All clinics operate on an appointment basis. You can book an appointment to use the Remote Citizens Information Service by contacting the local CIC:
- Wicklow Town Library: Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. To book an appointment, call Bray CIC on 0818 07 6780 or email bray@citinfo.ie.
- Achill Library, Co. Mayo: Tuesday afternoons from 2pm to 4:30pm. To book an appointment, call Castlebar CIC on 0818 07 6040 or email castlebar@citinfo.ie.
- Leabharlann na Ceathrú Rua, Co. Galway: Wednesday mornings from 10.30am to 12.30pm. To book an appointment, call Galway CIC on 0818 07 7600 or email galway@citinfo.ie. This service is available in English and Irish.
The Revenue Commissioners is also offering a remote clinic in Leabharlann na Ceathrú Rua every Thursday from 2pm-4pm. This can be set up by calling 01 7383 660.
This is a pilot project and is only available at these locations for the moment.
CIB is a State agency under the remit of the Department of Social Protection and funds the Citizens Information Services. CIB was awarded funding to run this pilot project in Galway and two other libraries though the Public Service Innovation Fund. This project is supported and funded by the Department of Public Expenditure NDP Delivery and Reform.
